Feel At Home In Your Body

How to Improve Your Relationship With Yourself

Why Should You Do Pelvic Circles?

The movement of the pelvis is central to all other movement of the body.

If you have back pain or pain in the feet, knees, shoulders, or neck, it could likely be from a stuck pelvis.

My arthritis was gone after my first year of Feldenkrais training because I unstuck my pelvis. Look for all my variations on Pelvic Circles on my YouTube channel.

Bell Hand and Heart-Focused Breathing

This Awareness Through Movement lesson accesses the calming branch of the nervous system and teaches the nervous system new connections that reduce tension in the body and make movement easier and more elegant.

This lesson is also particularly good for anyone who uses their hands for delicate and precise movement such as surgeons, artists or musicians.

Trauma and the Feldenkrais Method

I participated in this podcast with Christina Peterson in March of 2022. I explain how I got into the somatic methods. My neck was killing me after the death of my mother. My first Feldenkrais practitioner turned out to be a retired Jungian analyst who told me on the first day that the body holds trauma. I spent the next seven years figuring out what she meant by that.

Somatic methods let our body start to tell its story. It only wants to be heard.

FIVE MINUTE FELDIES

Video lessons you can do in five to ten minutes.

Awareness Through Movement® Audio Lessons

👉 Here are some videos of short Awareness Through Movement® lessons that you can do when you don’t have a lot of time.

👉 These lessons are classic building block movements that fit into larger full-length lessons.

👉You may not be able to do all of the movements. Remember, you can do the movement so small, you aren’t even moving and the nervous system can’t tell the difference. Always stay underneath any pain or discomfort.

👉 Listen to yourself. Take care of yourself.

Slow is Fast. Small is Big. Less is More.

Body Scan

This nine-minute body scan on the floor is a great way to start or end your day, bringing your focus back into yourself. Focusing on the outside world is exhausting.

Start every Awareness Through Movement lesson with a quick one- or two-minute body scan like this one.

Pelvic Tilt

This is the first lesson that anyone with any issue can do to improve their lives.

When our pelvis even has a little bit of stuck, it can confuse other parts of us and cause pain and dysfunction.

This lesson is also great for anxiety and depression.

Lifting the Hips

This short video lesson is one of my favorites.

It is a foundational movement that will help you reconnect with your pelvis, your center of self-empowerment.

It is great for anxiety and depression as well as back pain in particular.

But getting the pelvis moving again will improve all your movements.
